Dealing with Cellulite - How do I get rid of cellulite

Dealing with Cellulite - How do I get rid of cellulite by Franchis Adam
Dealing with Cellulite - How do I get rid of cellulite by Franchis Adam
Cellulite is a normal human variation that is viewed by a segment of the public (with the help of the media, some physicians, and salesmen of various sorts) as some sort of a disease. The term "cellulite" was coined in 1973 to refer to the dimpled appearance of the skin that some people have on their hips, thighs, and buttocks. This appearance is much more common in women than in men because of differences in the way fat, muscle, and connective tissue are distributed in men and women's skin. Although female hormones may play a role in contributing to this fat distribution, cellulite is not treatable by hormone therapy.

Cellulites can be a big problem for most women. Although these fatty deposits rarely pose any danger, their presence can often affect the person's self-esteem. As most people today are going for anything that is thin or flat from television screens and cellular phones to panty shields, having cellulites is simply unappreciated and can not be tolerated.

Hence, the quest for a cellulite-free body has been going on with women like you. And whoever wins will earn the admiration and approval of her peers. To win the war against cellulites, you need to be armed with the knowledge of what can cause cellulite buildup in the body, only then can you choose which approach to take to keep your body firm and sleek. The following are the different causes of cellulite development.

Cellulite is hereditary
True. Just as some families are susceptible to certain diseases, the possibility of extreme cellulite being present is no different. But hormones, diet and lifestyle play an important role too, so if your mum and grandmother have or had cellulite, it doesn't mean to say that you can't influence it. Therefore, the sooner you take care of yourself, the better.

Improper Diet
Even if all the women in your family are lucky enough to not have cellulites, you still risk developing these fatty deposits in your body if you do not watch what you eat. Cellulites may grow in many parts of your body because unhealthy diet can mean that your body will not be able to effectively cleanse itself. As a result, toxins from the food that you eat will get trapped in the fatty tissues near the skin.

Dehydration
Water helps a lot in flushing out the wastes in the body. Since toxins play an important role in the growth of cellulites, a good way to avoid developing unwanted fat deposits is to prevent the accumulation of toxins inside the body. Drinking plenty of water will help your system in cleaning out the wastes.

Smoking
Studies have shown that smoking can ruin tiny blood vessels and capillaries by causing them to constrict. When this happens, less and less blood will be able to take away the wastes in certain parts of the body. One more thing, poor blood supply in certain parts of the body can take its toll on the connective tissues that hold the skin to other tissues under it. As a result, your skin can be easily stretched and make room for the growth of cellulites.

Stress
Finally, one of the known causes of cellulite formation in the body is stress. And it is not only because of your tendency to binge on food whenever you are under stress. The tensions caused by being in a stressful situation can block the body's waste elimination process. This will bring you increased amounts of toxins in your body and before you know it, you have thighs with cubbyholes.

Nine Ways of Treating Cellulite
1. Strengthen blood vessels/increase blood flow
2. Encourage the production of connective tissue
3. Stimulate the production of collagen and elastin
4. Attract water to the cells
5. Repair cell membranes
6. Reduce wasted water
7. Prevent free-radical damage
8. Reduce inflammation
9. Promote exfoliation

Vertigo triggers and pressure points

Vertigo triggers and pressure points by Mitamins Team

Spinning syndrome
Vertigo is often confused with a fear of heights. However, the dizzy feeling when you look down from a high place is not the same as vertigo, which can occur at any time, and may last for many years. Mild vertigo is very common, and symptoms are not serious. However, recurrent or persistent vertigo could be caused by an underlying condition. People with vertigo may have sudden sensations of spinning or whirling motion that may be accompanied by light-headedness and loss of balance, and less often by sweating, fatigue, nausea, and vomiting.

First steps
According to one authority, certain chronic or repetitive body positions may produce painful nodules, called trigger points, in the muscles of the head and neck, which can lead to dizziness and possibly vertigo. These positions include forward bending of the neck as when sleeping on two pillows, backward neck bending as when painting a ceiling, and turning the neck to one side as in some reading positions.

Attacking the problem deep down
Numerous preliminary reports suggest certain "vestibular rehabilitation" exercises may help some cases of vertigo. These exercises were also found to be effective in relieving vertigo(http://concernrelated.mitamins.com/Skin-Hair-Nail/Vitiligo-relief.html). While vestibular rehabilitation exercises may be done at home, initial guidance by a qualified practitioner is necessary. Research indicates some cases of vertigo are related to spinal disorders affecting the head and neck. Other vertigo treatments(http://conditionsinfo.mitamins.com/Skin-Hair-Nail/Vitiligo-Treatments.html), such as spinal manipulation and combined exercise and massage can result in improvement of vertigo symptoms.

Alternative science
In a preliminary study of people with migraine headaches, most of whom (83%) also experienced vertigo, a combined and individualized approach using dietary changes, medication, physical therapy, lifestyle changes, and acupuncture is advised. In addition, many reports suggest acupuncture may help to reduce the symptoms of vertigo. It's definitely worth giving alternative science a chance to treat vertigo and its symptoms.

Aromatherapy - Can It Work For You?

Aromatherapy - Can It Work For You? by Joe Serpico

The term "aromatherapy" came into being back in the 1902's. As with many discoveries, The initial realization of the concept was the result of an accident. It occurred in the laboratory of a French scientist named Rene Maurice Gattefosse. He was working with essential oils in the lab when he burned his arm. Essential oils are aromatic liquid substances extracted from flowers, trees, grasses, roots, fruits and leaves. Gattefosse quickly reacted to the burn by inserting his arm into a tub of the nearest liquid, which happened to be lavender essential oil. Afterwards, he was very surprised at how quickly the burn healed and at how little scarring was evident afterwards. This spurred much more investigation into the workings of essential oils and aromatherapy over the ensuing years, and now everyone can enjoy the benefits of aromatherapy, which has been defined as the art and science of using essential oils to promote health and well being.

Many people think of aromatherapy as an expensive practice that requires the services of an expert, but that's not necessarily true. There are many books that go into the whys and wherefores of aromatherapy and essential oils. Anyone can go online or to their local health food store and purchase one of these books and some essential oils and get started for very low cost. If you really want to save money and have the time, you can even purchase seeds in order to grow herbs that yield essential oils.

One reason for the popularity of aromatherapy is its use as an alternative to prescription drugs. While there isn't an aromatherapy cure for every medical condition, ailments such as PMS, earache, muscle and joint pain, poor digestion, lack of energy, insomnia, diarrhea, allergies, headache, depression and anxiety, among others, have responded well to treatment with aromatherapy in many cases. People who are fearful of the side effects of prescription medications would be good candidates for the aromatherapy alternatives, with the main side effect of that type of treatment being saving a lot of money.

If you plan to treat yourself with aromatherapy, then it's prudent to read up on the guidelines and techniques first. For example, I saw a website that indicated that individuals with heart problems should never use peppermint oil. Not knowing (or ignoring) that piece of advice could be catastrophic, so make sure you know what you're doing before you start.

Some mainstream medical practitioners have questioned the effectiveness of aromatherapy, and on the other side, some serious boosters of the modality are disturbed by the recent mass marketing of the essential oils and books that claim to teach all about the practice, thinking it should be left to experts. As with most health issues, the truth is probably somewhere in the middle. However, if you're interested in finding out more before you invest any money, the Internet is a great place to search for information and get both sides of the story.

Best Skin Cream: Anti Wrinkle

Best Skin Cream: Anti Wrinkle by George Christodoulou

Our Skin
Our skin goes through many changes as we get older. One of the worst things we can expect upon getting older, is the appearance of wrinkles. No one wants to get them, but, sadly, with the all the unavoidable factors that are key to wrinkles appearing, such as sunlight; they are inevitable. Luckily, there are many products on the market that are made for the sole purpose of lessening wrinkles. However, with all different types available, it may be difficult to choose what the best and safest product is.

Ingredients Contained in Anti-Wrinkle Cream
Different creams contain different ingredients and it is crucial to know what each of these ingredients do before choosing that product. It is important to know your own body because you may have an allergy, or your skin may just not work with certain ingredients, causing redness and irritation around the treated area. Certain products that promise to reduce wrinkles may not be FDA approved and so, do more damage than good. It is important also to make sure that the product us clinically proven to work.

The Best Have Only the Best
The best anti-wrinkle skin creams will have the best ingredients. Generally, any product that uses natural ingredients will be better than those that use man-made ones. Natural oils are more rich in vitamins and work better as anti-oxidants; a key ingredient in reducing wrinkles. Organic oils are easier for the skin to absorb and are less harsh on the skin as a whole.

What to Look For
There are certain key ingredients to look for when choosing the best skin cream. A few to be aware of are:
* Ingredients that hydrate the skin
* Collagen production enhancing ingredients
* Natural products
* Ingredients that will work with your skin's unique pH level
A combination of all of these ingredients will make for the best anti-wrinkle skin creams. Products such as, "Dermitage", "Athena 7 Minute Lift" and "Hydroderm" contain most and generally all of these key ingredients in helping to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, and will usually cost less than $100 as do most skin creams.

Arthritis - 3 Major Risks

Arthritis - 3 Major Risks by Lg Williams

Having arthritis is common in most people of the world. Even though it is a very common disease, it is painful and very incurable at the moment. You can be at risk for getting arthritis and you may not even know it. Some of the conditions cannot be changed but there are a number of things that you can do to prevent arthritis from happening to you later on in life. Take a look at the risk in your life and what you can do to prevent arthritis from happening to you and causing great pain in your life.

Arthritis and Injuries

You must first understand arthritis. It can affect anyone of any age, gender or race. Even babies at a young age of six months can develop arthritis. It is true that your risks will increase after the age of 40. There are different things that can increase your risk of arthritis as well. For example sports injuries can often occur and it is necessary to continue treating your injury throughout your life to prevent more serious conditions later on in life. Contracting Arthritis after an injury is one of the main reasons that professional athletes are in constant pain after retirement. Controlling Weigh

Maintaining eight is very important when it comes to having arthritis. If you are more than 30 pounds overweight, having this extra stress can affect your joints and create arthritis pain. Having a good healthy weight and exercising and eating right is very important when it comes to your health.

Genes and Gender

Genetics will also play a very important part in the development of arthritis. There is not much that you can do to counteract it. However if you live a good and healthy life, you can lower the risk of arthritis conditions in your body at a young age. Women are more at risk than men for getting different kinds of arthritis pain. This is because of the hormonal changes that a woman will go through. Keeping hormones in order by seeing your doctor regularly will put you at a lower risk for arthritis. African Americans are more likely to have lupus, which is an arthritic disease. Caucasians are at a larger risk for getting rheumatoid arthritis. There are certain groups of Americans that are at risk for getting certain type of arthritis.

Summary

If you are at a greater risk for Arthritis, you need to take the right steps to reduce your chances of getting the disease. Having a healthy lifestyle by eating right and exercising well is going to keep you at a lower risk. Even though arthritis can be difficult to deal with, you can prevent it from happening.

Acupressure: healing through the chi

Acupressure: healing through the chi by Marina Pastore

The traditional Chinese medicine has created and influenced many alternative therapies and techniques of massage. One of them is the acupressure, also known as Do-In, which is a massage technique that deals with the flow of natural energy, known as Chi, in the body. The acupressure works with the balance of the body, by pressuring and stimulating specific points, which are connected to glands of the body.

Acupuncture and acupressure use the same points and meridians, but acupuncture employs needles, while acupressure uses gentle but firm pressure and integrates bodywork therapies, therapeutic touch, somatic work, healing imagery, energy psychology, and massage therapy techniques.

According to the Traditional Chinese theory, what explains the effectiveness of the acupressure is the fact that when the specific points are pressured, large amounts of endorphin are released to the body. As a result of it, the pain is blocked and the person feels relieved.
Benefits The technique of acupressure provides many benefits to the patient. It helps to relieve and relax from stress, tension and fatigue; increases blood circulation; promotes healing of injuries; increase energy levels and feeling of well-being; decreases labor pains. It is also effective in reducing back pain.

Regular practice of acupressure is a good preventive option to ward off diseases. There are points that, once pressured, can help healing diseases such as allergies, epilepsy, bronchitis, etc. It can be used during the menopause in order to relieve the symptoms.

Alerts Although the acupressure method brings benefits to the body, the professional and the patient must be aware about the fact that this technique can't be performed after doing heavy exercise, having a large meal or a hot bath, and taking medicines such as analgesics.
Areas with inflammation and bruises should not be pressured. In case of chronic or degenerative illness and heart problems, the patient should not be submitted to the acupressure.

During pregnancy, there are some points that should not be pressured, mostly on the abdominal area, because it may cause an abortion. It is recommended for the woman to inform the professional that she is pregnant. Even though, it may help during the birth process to reduce the intensity of contractions and the pain perception.

Curiosities Acupressure is one of the most ancient methods of massage. It has been practiced for healing for at least 5000 years and it is based on the Traditional Chinese Medicine. This technique is believed to be the "mother of acupuncture". Acupressure preceded acupuncture by at least one millennium.

There is not a specific length for the acupressure course; it may vary from school to school. It goes from a basic course of 150 hours and an advanced training program of 850 hours.

Tennis elbow - Treat it with R.I.C.E

Tennis elbow - Treat it with R.I.C.E by Geoff Hunt

I bet many of you have heard of the R.I.C.E. principle. It has been around and used for many years to treat various injuries, mostly muscle related tears, swelling and inflammation.
Because you are feeling pain, more specifically tennis elbow, you must deal with the damage that has been done to the tendons and muscles around the elbow joint and forearm muscles and flexors. This is the acute phase of an injury. Let's go through the R.I.C.E. principle:

R - R means Rest. I don't mean or expect you to be completely bed ridden at this point. I simply am referring to avoiding all activity that could potentially aggravate your injury. Complete rest may lead to the muscles seizing up on you which could lead to further damage and longer rehab time. You want to keep your elbow mobile and keep blood flowing to the tissues and muscles. This will aid in the healing process. Use pain as a guide to what you can and cannot do. At the slightest sign of pain, stop immediately.

I - I stands for ice. At the first sign of inflammation use ice. Preferably use an ice pak on your elbow wrapped in a tea towel, small towel or t-shirt. Never put ice directly on your skin as this may lead to tissue and skin damage. Ice cubes in a zip lock bag or a bag of frozen peas or corn will work just as well as an ice pak. Apply the ice to your elbow region for approximately 10-20 minutes. When the area becomes numb, you should stop icing your elbow. Never ice an area of the body for longer than 30 minutes as you maybe inflicting tissue and cell damage.

C - C is for compression. Use a bandage or wrap over the ice pack to help decrease swelling and inflammation. You should never tighten the bandage or wrap to the point of cutting off blood flow. You should not feel pain or a tingly sensation while using compression.

E - E is for elevate. Raise and rest your arm so that it is above the level of your heart. You can prop it up on a couple of pillows or on the arm of your couch. What you are trying to achieve here is to decrease the swelling in your elbow. By elevating your elbow there is less blood pooling and therefore you decrease the inflammation.

It sounds complicated but it is very easy but you must implement it in order to full recover from your tennis elbow injury and pain. The steps are simply but need to be followed. It is recommended that you implement the RICE principle every 4 to 6 hours for up to 48 hours after the injury. If you do not experience pain relief within 48 hours I recommend that you consult your doctor or hospital as there could possibly be something more serious going on like a broken bone.

Once you have completed the RICE principle and your elbow and muscles feel healthy enough, you want to start increasing strength and endurance in the tendons, ligaments and muscles around the elbow and forearm.

What is Face Lift ?

What is Face Lift ? by Asmat Zehra

Face lift surgery-is the removal of lax skin. These wrinkles can be related to age, hereditary or environmental factors. The appropriate time to have a consultation is when you no longer look the way you feel. This may be in your 40s or your 90s. Face lifts can do more than improve the appearance of facial skin. It can also be a tremendous boost to a person's self-esteem. While there is no "right" age to undergo a face lift, your cosmetic surgeon will evaluate the condition of your skin and may discuss alternate or additional treatments with you. In combination with face lifts, other procedures may be performed including: eyelid surgery; brow lift, forehead lift; facial implants; partial chemical peel; laser resurfacing; Botox; lip augmentation; chin augmentation; nose reshaping or liposuction. A face lift is considered to be a major operative procedure. Like any extensive surgical procedure, operative incisions and complicated surgical stitching is required. You must accept your cosmetic surgeon's judgment and realize that he will only remove the skin of the face that can be done safely and suitable for you particular facial contour.

The face lift procedure as with the brow lift procedure can improve wrinkled skin, but skin type and patient age are important factors in the final result. It is important for all patients considering face lifts to have realistic expectations. There are many factors involved-the amount of skin removed; age and condition of the patient; skin type, as well as its condition and texture; amount of previous sun and wind exposure as well as healing ability. Skin aging continues after the face lift operation, even though the excess skin and wrinkles have been removed.

Occasionally a minor secondary procedure may be recommended to enhance results such as a brow lift. A face lift or brow lift may be performed in an outpatient facility or in a hospital setting, under general or local anesthesia. In some cases, the operation may be performed on an outpatient basis and the patient returns home following the procedure. Other physicians may hospitalize the patient for one to two nights. Face lifts may be performed in a hospital or an outpatient facility. Within the first week you may experience some discomfort, but most patients can resume normal activities. Be sure to always follow your cosmetic surgeon's advice following your face lift. All questions should be directed to your cosmetic surgeon. Remember that healing is a gradual process and it may be several weeks before you will begin to see the new you. After the healing period is complete, face lifts can make you look younger, and improve your self-confidence. Source: http://www.locateplasticsurgeon.com/

Benefits of eating organic food

Benefits of eating organic food by Joanne Ott

With people becoming more health conscious in recent years we are seeing a dramatic increase in the availability of organic foods. It's apparent there is increasing demand for these products as wider selections and more shelf space is being taken up in mainstream grocery stores for organics. In addition the number of health food stores continues to increase.
Does it really make a difference to eat organic food? I believe so and will explain the reasons why.

The main reason is organic food is totally free of pesticides, harmful additives, hormones and antibiotics.I It also avoids the use of artificial flavors and additives.
Additives can affect the taste, color and aroma of foods.

Animals are routinely fed antibiotics and hormones and this in turn ends up in the meat and on our dinner table. The rationale behind this is that it speeds up animal growth. While this may be true, with people becoming more antibiotic resistant do we really need to have it end up in in our food?

Pesticides may not be as much of a concern on a fruit like a banana, with a heavy peel that is discarded, but it can be much more difficult to eliminate all traces of pesticides on fruits like strawberries, apples and blueberries.

Does organic food taste better? That obviously depends on the individual, but I think it does. I particularly notice a difference in the meat, and get better tasting gravies as well.
It only makes sense that food grown in good soil, ripened naturally by the sun, will be both tastier and healthier rather than non organics grown with chemicals and preservatives for longer shelf life and for storage. But the only way you can make this determination is to try it for yourself!

Eating organic food is good for the environment as well. This takes farming back to basics, the way it was years ago. This means healthy food without the harmful pesticides. Organic practices generally mean growing food in harmony with nature. This type of farming ensures there will be no pollution from sprays, and less dangerous waste, in addition to having well balanced soil. So it is better for our water supply and our air.

Organic food is particularly good for babies and young children whose immune systems are not yet mature. There is a wide range of organics in many grocery stores now, and of course, there is the option of homemade.

It is clear that more and more people are switching to organic food, as sales have been steadily increasing and the selection continues to grow.
Once you try organics you may find you would never go back. It's certainly been true in my case. It's a smart health choice to make and better for our world as well.

Treatment for Blemish Skin Care

Treatment for Blemish Skin Care by Franchis Adam

People who buy natural skin care products are searching for creams and lotions that provide real results. Baby boomers and college age people use natural products like lotions, facial soaps, foaming facial cleansers and peel-off facial masks because they have become indifferent towards pharmaceuticals. People are content spending a couple more dollars on products because they feel the health benefits are worth the extra dollars but natural does not automatically mean it is a perfect solution for everyone.

The fascination with natural skin care products can be linked to a shift in people's priorities and lifestyles. People are becoming more aware of the planet and the environment. They generally assume that natural acne lotions are environmentally friendlier and healthier than their antibiotic counterparts. For the most part, that generalization holds up but natural skin care products are not always what people think they are.

Natural Skin Care
There are a couple thoughts to keep in mind when searching for a natural acne care product. First of all, is the product environmentally friendly? Not every product is. Cosmetic products can and often do emit a considerable amount of pollutants into the atmosphere on a daily basis. According to some recent reports, elements like fluorocarbons, acetone, and phenols found as additives in some natural skin care products dissipate and add to ozone issues.

Not only can this alter air quality but it can alter the reproduction habits of some aquatic species. When some additives dissipate into the air, they can settle in lakes and rivers and change the breeding habits of fish and other animals. Natural skincare products commonly contain botanical elements. Have you ever considered that maybe those exact same botanicals were treated with pesticides and fertilizers? Would you still feel the same about your new natural skin care cream or lotion if this were the case?

Is your natural skin care product truly helping your skin? There are many "natural" skincare businesses who put parabens and additives in their products. Preservatives need to be toxic to bacteria in order to improve the shelf life of the cream. Now parabens have been the norm but recently there have been some disputable investigations questioning the toxicity of the preservative and its role in the evolution of tumors. While tumor development would be very rare, more common side effects of parabens include general irritation and Atopic dermatitis.

Natural Ingredients in a Skin Care Product Some natural ingredients are more advanced than others. Are you searching for an all natural acne care treatment that was not tainted by preservatives or will not hurt the ozone layer? Thanks to the discovery of a new biological skin care element, you can stimulate the natural remodeling process of your own skin and should old, dying cells and let new, healthy ones emerge to give the skin a healthier appearance.

Hair Loss in Men

Hair Loss in Men by Stephen Ashton

Why do men lose their hair? In some cases, baldness which occurs naturally in men is genetically inherent in families. While baldness is considered a natural process, it is nonetheless a problem most men have to grapple with. Hair loss in men can be viewed as a sign of aging, however, this is a false assumption.

Today, unlike years ago, men can have their hair replaced using three specific methods.
One is taking a medication such as Propecia, which has been FDA approved. The second option would be to have hair replaced surgically; and the third option is purchasing a hairpiece. Propecia seems to be the method of choice, but it is not for everyone. Sexual side effects using this drug have been reported.

Surgery would involve shifting sections of scalp or transplanting plugs of hair. However, an infection may result. The last option, purchasing a hair piece is certainly viable; especially today that advanced technology has made hair pieces more natural and accessible.

Other likely causes for hair loss are stress; and alopecia areata; surgery or chemotherapy; poor diet; thyroid disease; certain medications; scalp ringworm; and chemical treatments.
The condition alopecia areata occurs when the immune system shuts down because it assumes the hair follicles are antibodies. This condition usually causes patchy loss.

It is estimated that men typically lose 50 to 100 hairs a day, which is part of the hair renewal process. Fortunately or unfortunately, as the case may be, most people lose hair at one time. While the loss may be temporary, other losses are more permanent. One of the most common causes of hair loss for men occurs from the front to the crown and is considered a hormonal imbalance. To treat this condition, there are certain medications which can offer a preventative alternative.

Hair loss in men can be devastating; especially when at a young age. For some, the hair grows back; for others, they have to decide whether to take medication, have surgery or buy a hair piece. While there are three options to remedy hair loss in men, it would be a good idea to research each method to determine the best course of action for you. Check with your doctor, especially if you are inclined to take Propecia. While some men view baldness as sexy; others find receding hairlines and loss of hair distasteful. Thankfully, there are choices.

What Causes Hair Loss in Men and How Can It Be Treated?
What causes hair loss in men and how can it be treated? It is believed that baldness in men can be attributed to disease. Excessive weight gain or loss within a close period of time is a factor. An iron deficiency is also a cause of hair loss in men. However, most some believe that hair loss is neither due to an illness nor a medical condition. While it is asserted that pattern baldness affects over 20 million men in the United States, it is stated that one in four men begin to go bald by the age of thirty. In addition, when men reach sixty, the odds are considerably worse; two out of three go bald.

Since it has already been determined that baldness is inherently familial, you may want to check your maternal side to ascertain if your mother's father went bald and at what age. According to research, a hair follicle's normal growth rate is five years before the hair is replaced by new hair growth. In men, when a hair falls out; a new one does not start to grow. Usually occurring above the forehead, thus revealing a receding hairline, it works its way back to the crown of the head. Thus, a bald spot increases in size until the entire top of the head is bald. The only hair remaining is on the sides of the head.

Hair loss can be treated with two medications: Minoxidil, which is applied directly to the scalp, helps slow the balding in most men. In fact, it begins new hair growth. While this medication only works for younger men, who are just beginning the balding phase, it takes about a year to determine if the medication was successful. Another medication is Finasteride, which taken orally, blocks the testosterone which causes hair loss. This medication has shown to be effective in stopping hair loss in men, and start new hair growth. The results of this medication may also take a year before any progress is shown.

As men age, their hair becomes thinner. As the hair thins, it the oil increases; which causes an insufficiency of the hair root. This ultimately contributes to hair loss. If you an oily scalp, in addition to thinning hair, the best advice offered by experts is to shampoo frequently. If you experience sudden hair loss, contact your doctor to determine the cause.

While hair loss is natural, always be certain to check the amount of hair you are losing each day. Use a comb, not a brush, on your hair. Braiding your hair can also cause a similar condition that will eventually cause hair loss. Use whatever preventative measures to ensure your hair is properly maintained. If necessary, the cause and treatment of hair loss in men can be discerned at an early age.

How You Can Reduce Medical Expenses For Health Insurance

How You Can Reduce Medical Expenses For Health Insurance by Melih Oztalay

Healthcare costs on the rise, but there are a number of ways to lower your medical expenses.
An ounce of prevention. One of the most effective ways to lower medical expenses, especially over the long haul, is to maintain a healthy lifestyle by:
* Taking advantage of wellness programs * Maintaining a healthy weight * Exercising regularly * Kicking unhealthy habits (e.g., smoking) * Getting regular checkups.

If your health insurance provides little to no coverage in certain areas, or if you lack health insurance coverage, look into free health screenings. Local clinics and hospitals often offer a variety of screenings, such as blood pressure, cholesterol, and mammograms. If it's free, don't hesitate to take advantage of it!

Prescriptions on the cheap. If you take prescription drugs regularly, they can cost you plenty. But it's not hard to find ways to save money. For example, order your prescriptions through the mail, through a traditional or online pharmacy. If you belong to a prescription drug plan through your health insurance, you can probably get a three-month supply through the mail for the same price as a one-month supply at the local pharmacy. And if possible, ask your pharmacist or doctor to prescribe a less-expensive generic drug.

Keep an eye on your bills. Medical bills can be confusing, but taking some time to review the charges may save you money. Make sure your bill accurately reflects the procedures you underwent and applies the proper insurance coverage you may have. It's not too uncommon to have wrong computer codes where you're billed for healthcare you never received. Contact the company's billing office immediately if you find a mistake.

Togetherness can save money. A number of married couples keep separate health insurance coverage even though it may cost them more to do so. Take a look at both your and your spouse's coverage and see if it makes sense for either of you to join the other's plan. Be aware that most plans allow the addition of a spouse within a certain time period after getting married - for example, 30 days. If that's the case, you may have to wait for the plan's annual open enrollment period.

Keep track of it. With tax time right around the corner, you may be able to deduct certain medical expenses if you itemize. In order to itemize, your total medical expenses need to exceed (more)

7.5 percent of your adjusted gross income. The allowable medical expenses include everything from health-care services to medical aids, which include eyeglasses, hearing aids, etc. Keep records of these expenses if you think you'll be able to deduct them for the tax year.
It doesn't hurt to haggle. Many people don't realize that they can sometimes negotiate to lower their medical bills. It may not always work, but it doesn't hurt to ask your doctor, hospital, or pharmacy if they're willing bargain with you. Before you start negotiations, do some research on what other health-care providers in your area are charging. In addition, your health-care provider may lower their price if you pay in cash up front.

Save a little for a rainy day. If your employer offers a flexible spending plan that allows you to put pretax dollars in an account, jump on it. With a flexible spending plan, you'll be reimbursed for out-of-pocket medical expenses, such as prescription drugs, dental care, and co-payments. And because flexible spending contributions are taken out of your pay before taxes are calculated, you use pretax dollars to pay your medical bills.

Know who's covering you. These days, insurance companies often provide benefits designed to help you stay safe and healthy. One example - you may be able to receive discounts on vitamins, alternative medicines, health club memberships, or bike helmets. Also examine the range of coverage your health plan offers. It may cover dental care for young children, chiropractic care, and acupuncture. Read all materials provided by your insurer thoroughly to find out what products and services are available before you pay them out of pocket.

It's your money, shop around. If your employer doesn't provide health insurance, you may have to obtain your own coverage. In order to get good coverage at an affordable price, you'll need to shop around. Premiums vary widely, so you can save some cash if you get quotes from several companies. Examine each plan's coverage and features, and take into account all exclusions, limitations, and the freedom to choose health-care providers. It's also important to find out how much your out-of-pocket expenses will be as far as co-payments, coinsurance, and deductibles are considered. Be careful. With some plans, small amounts of money can add up quickly with frequent visits to your doctor.

Selecting the Best Anti Aging Creams or Lotions

Selecting the Best Anti Aging Creams or Lotions by Loretta Rogers

Scientists agree that there are three popular theories that may explain aging. The Genetic Theory sates that all humans have a genetic driven clock that will go off.

The next widely-accepted theory of aging is the "Free Radical Theory" that says that the body's inability to maintain a supply of free radicals as it ages greatly affects aging itself, and the "Hormonal Theory" that blames menopausal, andropausal, osteoporosis, and cardiovascular diseases for early aging because these conditions are believed to be indirect results of the body's reduction of hormone production.

Anti aging creams seem to be the most trusted way of fighting aging. When looking at the shelves in different beauty or wellness stores, the shelf space devoted to anti aging products proves this to be true.

Aside from anti-aging cream's invasion to these stores, they are also heavily marketed and advertised on magazines, TV, radio and even over the World Wide Web bearing the promise of making the potential buyer achieve a youthful skin with reduced wrinkles and eliminated fine lines on the skin.

Before the essence of globalization and commercialization became a worldwide hit, anti-aging creams have been marketed and targeted only for women. But after the industry of beauty and wellness opened its doors to men, more and more products and services were also created specifically for them. Among these products are anti-aging creams that are specially formulated and created for them.

In order to be able to select the proper products for your skin, you must know what your skin type is. Different skin types require different ingredients. Take the time to learn what your skin type is.

Aging of the skin can be caused by dirt and oil. If your skin ages due to oil or dirt, choose and anti aging cream that reduces free radicals. Another cause of aging is the deterioration of collagen. If your skin lacks collagen, opt for a cream that aids in the restoration of collagen. There are many various products available in cream, water-based, or capsule form.

Make sure that you make a rough estimate of the money you're planning to spend. If you're on a tight budget, don't buy products that are quite expensive because the best anti-aging creams or lotions are not necessarily expensive. Price does not assure quality.
Make sure that you pay a visit to your doctor or to a dermatologist first before buying a anti-aging creams or products for that matter so he or she can give you advice.

How Coffee Effects Our Cholesterol Levels

How Coffee Effects Our Cholesterol Levels by S. Michael Windsor

There has been a lot of talk recently about how coffee seems to raise our cholesterol levels. And I am referring to the LDL (aka 'bad') cholesterol levels. After doing some research on my own I have found some pretty interesting things as well as some tips on how to lower your risk of heart disease and/or higher cholesterol levels due to coffee. First thing's first, research has shown that it is not just any cup of coffee that raises a person's cholesterol levels, but it is mostly due to unfiltered coffee such as French press coffee and espresso. Many people may choose to automatically blame this issue on the caffeine in the coffee, but that would not be the right assumption. The reason coffee has the ability to raise our cholesterol levels is because of oils called terpenes found in coffee. These oils are easily filtered out with our normal paper filters. However, just make sure that those filters are not the ones with extra 'aroma' holes plugged throughout them as these will raise your chances of consuming the terpene oils that can potentially be harmful. Now, all of this at first seemed very disappointing as I personally have always consumed my coffee in the form of espresso. Not anymore, I like it iced, so rather than an Americano I get an iced coffee. Another thing to point out are the other factors that also may contribute to higher cholesterol levels and those could be genetics, sugars in the coffee drinks and other habits such as smoking. All of these factors would have to be considered as well if a person was going to do an in-depth analysis on whether or not they should give up coffee versus smoking or something. The frozen coffee beverages, to me, resemble a dessert in many cases. On top of it all they contain espresso, which by the way does not use a paper filter. Espresso uses a steel filter in many cases so a lot of the oils will be pushed right through when preparing that heavenly brew. So, one thing to remember from all of this is that if a person would like to lower their chances of raising their cholesterol due to coffee, then stick to filtered coffee and try best to avoid the unfiltered coffees and, unfortunately, the espresso beverages.

Tips for Breastfeed the Baby

Tips for Breastfeed the Baby by Imama Zuchroh

Undeniable that mothers' milk is the best food for a baby. It is clean, easy to absorb, easy to digest and save for the baby. There are tips for breastfeed the baby here: - Almost all women have the ability to give breastfeeding for their babies !
- Breastfeeding is a natural skill that needs practices. Sometimes mom & the baby need more than a week to master it capably.
- The feeling of fearful, panicking, scared will prevent and slow down the breast-milk, but the feeling of relaxed, comfort and stress-free will stimulate the flow of the breast-milk.
- Usually the breast-milk will come down on the 3rd - 6th day. The first breastmilk which the baby feeds on in the first 4 days is called 'colostrum' (the liquid that contains water, vitamins, protein, sugar, minerals & antibodies - very important for the newborn baby)
- The slowing down of the breastmilk's flow & the engorgement of the breast usually arise on the first time the milk comes out.
- The nipples are chafed from the 'areola' that is not well sucked by the baby, or the baby sucks for longer time.
- Usually the baby sucks the milk for 5-10 minutes. But, for the first time, feed the baby anytime as long as the baby wants.
- If a baby has enough breast-milk, she or he will urinate approximate 5 to 6 times daily.

How To Buy An Ergonomic Office Chair

How To Buy An Ergonomic Office Chair by Helen Hecker

When shopping for or buying an ergonomic chair or ergonomic office chair online, finding the best ergonomic chair depends a lot on what kind of work you do whether at home or away from home. And incorrect ergonomics can cause back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, headaches, and many other medical issues. And if you spend most of your waking hours sitting at your desk, you know you need an ergonomic office chair that works with your body not against it, to spare you from needless backaches and fatigue.

The terms computer ergonomics and office ergonomics are often used interchangeably; they're usually referring to body-adapted ergonomic chairs, office chairs, stools, desks, keyboards, mice and so on. In recent times, the word 'ergonomics' has become part of office terminology. Medical chairs and dental chairs also benefit from using correct ergonomics. Clean room chairs and ESD chairs are also on the market; these chairs come with height adjustable options as well as seat pan and back option, plus they have necessary inflatable lumbar support and footrest options. Ergonomic comfort is also very important because it helps keep employees alert. Ergonomic intensive-use chairs or seating, also known as 24/7 seating, are usually used for dispatch room security monitoring areas, control rooms, and 911 emergency dispatch offices.

Ergonomic executive office chairs or seating, also called managers' chairs, are usually found with a higher back and come with leather or stitched leather upholstery. The ergonomic intensive-use chairs are very durable and especially need to be ergonomic in design, because workers are typically sitting for many hours. And the executive chairs usually have upholstered back rests and upholstered arms.

The hydraulic seat height adjustment allows the user to adjust the chair properly so feet can rest on the floor or footrest and the upper body is properly aligned with the computer monitor, keyboard and mouse. The seat should always extend at least one inch from either side of the hips for optimum comfort because insufficient hip room can make you sit too far forward and not get enough support for the thighs. Adjustable height and width are absolutely necessary when buying a chair that has armrests. The armrests should be made of a soft material and should be at least 2" wide to provide an adequate surface area.

Some of the ergonomic chair seat pans easily adjust for either a forward or backward tilt. You can use an ergonomic chair with casters and a 5-point base to ease movement and minimize possible tipping. A good ergonomic chair or office chair will recline and lock into several different positions.

The backrest of the chair should also have angle, in-out and height adjustments to achieve the proper spinal alignment; the angle adjustment allows the user to adjust the angle of the backrest in relation to the seat pan, as opposed to the tilt mechanism, which moves the seat pan with the backrest. The front part of the seat should slope down ever so slightly and allow a fist size gap between the back of the knees and the front edge of the seat pan to reduce pressure on the back of the thighs. The seat pan is the one component of the chair that supports the majority of the user's weight.

Hopefully these ergonomic facts and tips about features and types of ergonomic chairs will help you when shopping for or buying an ergonomic chair online or locally from your office supply store or office furniture store. Many good deals can be found online and at local office furniture consignment and resale shops. And if you can't afford the Cadillac of chairs, the Aeron chair, which starts at about $400, find an ergonomic chair or ergonomic office chair that is a true ergonomic chair, not the 'ergonomically designed' chair that is generally not totally ergonomic.

Sleep Disorder - Nurse's Guide - Get Help Now With These Quick Tips

Sleep Disorder - Nurse's Guide - Get Help Now With These Quick Tips by Helen Hecker

It's often reported that the average adult needs about nine hours of sleep, but many studies and people dispute this; reports range from four hours to ten hours a night. Two sleep disorders categorized under disturbed sleep orders include Restless Legs Syndrome, sometimes incorrectly referred to as Restless Leg Syndrome, with one 's', and Periodic Limb Movement Disorder; both of these sleeping disorders cause involuntary movement in the arms and legs during sleep and interfere with getting a good nights rest. Some sleep disorders like sleep apnea, require immediate medical attention.

Generally there are three types of sleep disorders - lack of getting enough sleep, sleep disturbance, and too much or excessive sleep. In order to find effective sleep disorder treatments there must first be a diagnosis of the type of disorder present. Some sleep disorder symptoms can be a real cause for concern like falling asleep while driving and having slow reactions coupled with emotional outbursts.

The most common sleep disorder insomnia (lack of sleep) can have a big effect on judgment, memory, hand-to-eye coordination, well-being, and the reaction-time. Many people who get (not need) just four hours of sleep take naps during the day.
A partially blocked airway is the cause of sleep loss in sleep apnea. Sleep disorder treatments include the use of medical devices that help force air into the mouth while the patient is sleeping or a mechanical dental device to help keep the mouth in the right position so he/she can breathe properly.

In the excessive type of sleep disorder the most well-known is called narcolepsy. People with the same sleep disorders often display different symptoms. If you're sleep-deprived you can easily be more irritable and anger easily. Whereas if you're not sleep deprived you feel more relaxed and happy as you go about the day.

The parasomnias include a variety of disruptive sleep-related events. Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome is a sleep disorder of circadian rhythm, which is characterized by being unable to wake up and fall asleep at desired times, but not by the inability to stay asleep. And everyone has an internal clock that runs the body's circadian rhythm. The circadian rhythm tells your body when it's daylight you get up and when it's dark you go to bed.

Some doctors may offer sleeping medications as a short-term solution along with a few insomnia tips, but hopefully will seek to find the underlying cause of the sleeplessness and treat the cause instead of the symptoms. Don't get into the habit of drinking a glass of wine, hard liquor, or any other alcoholic beverage at bedtime because alcohol is a central nervous system depressant and it'll interfere with your REM (rapid eye movement) sleep and cause other problems you might not associate with it.

Some people say that sleeping with your head facing north helps you fall asleep because your body is better aligned with the earth, but it isn't always easy to move your bed. Your pillow may make you feel as though you're lying uphill or downhill and if it is too hard it may press into your head uncomfortably, reducing the chance of your falling asleep. The circadian rhythm can be upset by working unusual hours or different shifts but the rhythm can be re-established if you're on the same shift for an extended period.

The body needs to produce melatonin for a good nights sleep. Make sure that you don't have any light on in the bedroom, including the bright red light on digital clocks, night lights or any other light, even a small flicker because any light can stop the production of melatonin which is produced when it starts getting dark enough in your bedroom, but may shut down if even the smallest amount of light is glowing. In some sleep tests they used a flashlight to shine light on the backside of the knee and tested the reaction of the brain on the sleeping centers and the light was detected; so your body knows when there is a light shining on the back side of your body or in the bedroom. If you're a day sleeper or even at night, you can try using black drapes or draping to keep out all light - maybe you have a streetlight that is the culprit.
It may be through relaxation exercises or through meditation in bed, but whatever it takes to make the mind clear through the necessary hours before sleep, will help reduce stress as well as insomnia.

Try as many natural approaches for your sleeplessness as you can and avoid all sleeping drugs if possible. It's too easy to become dependent on them and many have side effects and some have serious side effects. One of the most common insomnia tips offered by sleep doctors and other medical professionals that can be useful for other sleeping disorders, is find something that helps relaxes you and focus on to help rid your mind of any worries and stressful thoughts.
So if you toss and turn each night before you're finally able to fall asleep, know that many other people are also experiencing this same problem. Your doctor or sleep specialist may be able to recommend support groups in the area. Also if nothing you try seems to work or it appears to be a more serious sleep disorder consider going to a sleep disorder center because they provide the newest techniques, therapies and treatments for the many issues that surround any sleep disorder.

Mesothelioma cancer - very rare type of cancer

Mesothelioma cancer - very rare type of cancer by Elhusseiny Shahin

Mesothelioma is a very rare type of cancer that develop in the outer membrane of some internal organs of the human body, it may develop in the outer membrane of the lungs which known as the pleura, may develop in the outer membrane of the internal organs in the abdominal cavity and may develop in the outer membrane of the heart which known as the pericardium.

Pleural mesothelioma or the cancer of lung lining is the most common type of mesothelioma cancer and often be associated with the asbestos exposure. Asbestos are several minerals that was used in the manufacturing companies, workers which was in the asbestos environment are the most people who can develop mesothelioma due to the direct contact with the asbestos particles, by inhalation asbestos fibers can enter the chest cavity and settle in the pleura (the lung lining) and cause chronic inflammation which may cause malignant tumors after several years.

Pericardial mesothelioma is less common than pleural mesothelioma and related to asbestos exposure, in this type the asbestos particles settle in the pericardium (the heart lining). Scientists don't know how asbestos can get in pericardium, there is an imagine way in which asbestos particles are transfered from the pleura to blood steam then to the heart, the heart pumps them to the pericardium and the disease start to grow there.

Peritoneal mesothelioma is another type of mesothelioma and affects the peritoneum. Peritoneum is the outer membrane of internal organs in the abdominal cavity. Peritoneal mesothelioma is often related to asbestos exposure.

Mesothelioma symptoms may be shortness of breath, cough, chest pain and general weakness. Mesothelioma diagnosis is very difficult, as its symptoms are very similar to other kinds of diseases take very long time to appear 25-50 years. The options of treatments are confined to surgery, chemotherapy ( special chemicals to kill the cancerous cells) and radiotherapy ( using some kind of radiations to get rid of the cancerous cells).

Resistance and Aerobics Exercise Found to Improve Blood Sugar Control

Resistance and Aerobics Exercise Found to Improve Blood Sugar Control by Francisco Mejias

A recent randomized controlled trial published in latest edition of "Annals of Internal Medicine" found that both aerobic and resistance exercise improved glycemic and blood sugar control for people with type 2 diabetes. The study observed over 250 adults between ages 39 and 70 who were not exercising regularly and had type 2 diabetes. The study participants were divided into four groups: 45 minutes of aerobics three times a week, 45 minutes of resistance training three times a week, 45 minutes each of both three times a week, and no exercise. Each participant was evaluated for changes in their A1C value - a percentage that reflects changes in blood sugar concentrations.

The aerobic and resistance training groups had improved their A1c value by half a percent, the group that used both kinds of exercise improved the value by nearly one percent, and the control group with no exercise had no change in value. An A1C value with a 1% improvement is associated with a 15 to 20 percent decrease in a risk of heart attack or stroke, and a 25 to 40 percent decreased risk of diabetes-related eye disease or kidney disease.

Lead author of the study, Dr. Ronald Sigal claims "There wasn't much known about resistance exercises when we started planning this study. At the time, some thought that resistance exercise is not useful or even dangerous for some people with diabetes. The bottom line is that doing both aerobic and resistance exercise is the way to maximize the effects of exercise on blood glucose control in type 2 diabetes."

Diabetes-What Are The Causes?

Diabetes-What Are The Causes? by Jack Krohn

Much has been written about Diabetes and rightfully so. Somewhere around 20-22 million Americans have it. Many countless millions more have it and don't know it. It is rapidly becoming a world wide epidemic. Many ask what are the causes of Diabetes? Here are some answers.

First of all, by way of background, Diabetes is a disease that affects the way your body uses food for energy. Normally the food you eat is broken down into a sugar called glucose. Insulin, which is produced by the pancreas, moves the glucose into your blood cells as fuel.
If you have diabetes your pancreas either doesn't make insulin at all (type 1) or the cells don't respond (type2). In either case the blood glucose levels get too high causing, over time, serious complications.

Here are some common myths. Diabetes is:
1. Not caused by eating sweets. Eating sweets can cause obesity which is a major risk factor.
2. Not contagious. You can't pass it on to others other than by genetics.
3. Not caused by stress although stress does make the symptoms worse.

Type 1 Diabetes affects only 5 % of all diabetics. In my opinion it is by far the worst of the two types. In type 1 the cells that make insulin are destroyed - an auto immune reaction causing dependence on outside sources of insulin. There is no cure for type 1 diabetes.
In type 2 the cell receptors that respond to insulin either don't work at all or not very well causing insulin resistance. The most common risk factors for Type 2 Diabetes are age, sedentary lifestyle and being overweight. My money goes on the weight issue as the #1 cause. Heredity too is a huge part.

Type 2 Diabetes has been called a disease of lifestyle. It certainly was in my case. As with a lot of folks, as you get older your metabolism slows down, you start gaining weight, you are less active and more sedentary-a trifecta of reasons for the disease. Add in some unhealthy eating habits and you have the 'perfect storm' for Diabetes.

There is no cure for type 2. The good news is that it can be controlled and even prevented. HOW? You ask. Prevention is easy. Stay active, watch your diet and weight, and don't get older (just kidding). Once you have it, control is handled thru exercise, weight control, diet and if necessary medication. Control is absolutely necessary.

Bottom line IF YOU CAN AVOID IT-AVOID IT. Education is the key to dodging this bullet. Getting Diabetes is no picnic.

Dental Implants Provide Support and Comfort

Dental Implants Provide Support and Comfort by Patricia Woloch

A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that is placed into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge
A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that is placed into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge. Dental implants are an ideal option for people in good general oral health who have lost a tooth or teeth due to periodontal disease, an injury, or some other reason such as disease or decay.

While high-tech in nature, dental implants are actually more tooth-saving than traditional bridgework, since implants do not rely on neighboring teeth for support.

Dental implants are so natural-looking and feeling, you may forget you ever lost a tooth. We all know that our confidence about our teeth affects how we feel about ourselves, both personally and professionally. No longer should you have to hide your smile due to missing teeth.
Perhaps you have difficulty chewing. If you are missing one or more teeth and would like to smile, speak and eat again with comfort and confidence, there is a solution out there for you that a highly trained cosmetic dentist can perform. Dental implants are teeth that can look and feel just like your own. Under proper conditions, such as perfect placement by your dentist and diligent patient maintenance, implants can last a lifetime. Long-term studies continue to show improving success rates for implants. What do Implants Do? · Replace one or more teeth without affecting bordering teeth. · Support a bridge and eliminate the need for a removable partial denture. · Provide support for a denture, making it more secure and comfortable. Types of Implants · Endosteal (in the bone): This is the most commonly used type of implant. The various types include screws, cylinders or blades surgically placed into the jawbone. Each implant holds one or more prosthetic teeth. This type of implant is generally used as an alternative for patients with bridges or removable dentures. · Subperiosteal (on the bone): These are placed on top of the jaw with the metal framework's posts protruding through the gum to hold the prosthesis. These types of implants are used for patients who are unable to wear conventional dentures and who have minimal bone height.

The ideal candidate for a dental implant is in good general and oral health. Adequate bone in your jaw is needed to support the implant, and the best candidates have healthy gum tissues that are free of periodontal disease. Dental implants are intimately connected with the gum tissues and underlying bone in the mouth.

As you know, your own teeth require conscientious at-home oral care and regular dental visits. Dental implants are like your own teeth and will require the same care. In order to keep your implant clean and plaque-free, brushing and flossing still apply as directed by your cosmetic dentist.

After treatment, your cosmetic dentist will work closely with you to develop the best care plan for you. Periodic follow-up visits will be scheduled to monitor your implant, teeth and gums to make sure they are healthy.

Gastric Reflux Diet

Gastric Reflux Diet - An Easy Turn Around by Gilbey Scott

Do you think you have gastric reflux? We read so much about heartburn and other conditions with related names, like gastric reflux, it is hard to understand exactly the condition and how best to treat it. One of the first things you can do, to determine if this is your problem, is to build a personal 3-step analysis. It's simple to do and will lead you to the right path for a cure.
Start by identifying these three things.

1) Symptoms - Being able to relate certain foods with reflux pain makes it easier to build a case. But what about gulping food down? And how many sodas do you drink a day? These are issues to be addressed, having pain consistently after eating is a symptom that something is wrong. Attacks of twice a week or more can mean damage of the stomach, esophagus or connecting sphincter. A sour taste, hoarse cough or uncomfortable stomach are other symptoms.

2) Frequency and the severity of your heartburn attacks - Medical guidelines consider attacks of twice a week or more to be an indication of a chronic condition. Strong symptoms related to gastric reflux will reinforce this conclusion.

3) Causes - Start jotting things down that might be causing this reflux and see if you can identify any patterns. These could be food related or other issues like eating habits or health issues. Obesity, stress, anxiety or eating disorders could also play a part. Identifying the cause is way to get to the root of the problem. If it is gastric reflux, the best person to find the cause is you.
Judging the information you gather from these steps will be the basis for you plan of action. Gastric reflux, by it name, is a disorder that affects the gastro-esophageal valve. And this is usually caused by stomach acid passing through the valve. After a while this causes damage to the valve and the esophagus.

What to do about this - Damage caused by this reflux action can be repaired. There are two ways to do this. One is to use a prescribed medication called a proton pump inhibitor. This pill is designed to block stomach acid and heal damaged tissue. Treatment may take six months to cure. Long treatment is not recommended.

The other option is to use a natural remedy like DLG. This a natural product made of licorice and has shown to be as effective as PPIs for treating gastric reflux. This too is not intended as a long term solution. A reflux condition such as this can become even more serious, if left untreated. A smart course of treatment would be to consult a medical professional.

The odds of succeeding with your gastric reflux diet will be much higher if you put it all down on paper. Even add a time table, if you like. Definitely make positive reinforcement a part of the plan. Gastric reflux - gastric juice that washes into the esophagus - can cause serious damage, even cancer.
I encourage you to start with a "can do" attitude, build a plan and get started as soon as possible.
